| Published Description: | Our client, a leading Telecommunications services provider of collocation, managed services, DWDM, TDM and Metro ethernet network services, is seeking several Network Technicians for its Network Operations and Collocation sites, located within Metro NYC-NJ region. The position requires daily presence in Midtown and/or Downtown Manhattan. These position will be on a temp-to-hire basis, with full-time hire determined after approximately four months of work. Responsibilities The Network Technician is responsible for various duties within the facility. They will be required to provide a point of contact for customers in need of assistance. The technician is also responsible for monitoring the facility's Critical Systems, ensuring that any points of failure are recognized and corrected at the earliest possible moment. They are expected to respond to Technical Support Requests within the pre-set time frame. They will be responsible for cabling and terminating homeruns and cross connects of various mediums. Technical Assistance · Monitor the tech support e-mail, voice mail and chat room in order to provide a response to a customer request within the 10 minute specified timeframe. · Perform Hands and Eyes services which are tracked via a Tech Support Ticket. This includes, but is not limited to the following services. · Equipment Power Cycles · Card Installation and Exchange · Meet-Me Area circuit troubleshooting. · Testing of T1, E1, T3, OC-3 to OC-48, STM-1 to STM-6 Circuits. · Troubleshooting Cat5 ethernet circuits. · Performing Optical Readings at 1310nm and 1550nm. · Inventory of Customer Licensed Facilities. · Cross Connect installations within the Customers licensed facility. Construction and Installation · Equipment Rack and Stack per the customer provided instructions. · Meet-Me Area Homerun Cabling will require the ability to pull, lace and terminate the following mediums: · Single Mode Fiber · Multi Mode Fiber · 735 Coax · 734 Coax · Cat 3 · Cat 5e · Facility Technicians are responsible for building cage solutions based on the customers requested footprint. · Two and Four post relay rack installation per the customer's requests. · DC Power Installation Facility Maintenance/Monitoring · Monitor the Air Handler Units, checking the status once per shift. · Monitor the Critical Power Systems, updating the status via e-mail once per shift. · Receive and track materials staging them in the correct location. · Maintain the Meet Me Area. Track circuit information; maintain cleanliness and good house keeping policies. Education, Experience & Skills requirements High School Diploma or Equivalent Minimum 2 years experience in telecommunications. Must be detail oriented with excellent communications, interpersonal and oral/written presentation skills. Must have working knowledge of sonet, DWDM, Ethernet, Windows Servers, Routers and Switches Ability to mange multiple tasks simultaneously. Strong analytical skills in connection with circuit layout and Layer 1 and Layer 2. Must be a self starter, proactive, flexible, and able to work within and meet deadlines. Strong PC skills and a working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Access and Microsoft Outlook. |
