This is a full-time, direct hire.

Responsibilities

  • The Linux Systems Administrator will be responsible for supporting the infrastructure and systems for our client's global infrastructure, as well as the software development and QA environments.  
  • The Linux SA will support a team of software engineers, architects, project managers, developers, QA and UAT teams.
  • The role will include monitoring the performance of a proprietary real-time global delivery and tracking system effective diagnosis of capacity, security and various third party issues across our client's global network.

 

Duties will include:

  • Design and development of custom tools to aid and automate the operations process, hardware procurement, installation and maintenance at our client's European and New York data centers.
  • Office operations including various intranet services, VOIP and VPN systems
  • Overseeing operational projects to completion

 

Education, Experience & Skills Requirements

Required background

  • Strong technical aptitude in the Linux Systems admin domain, including various Linux deployment (RedHat, Debian 4 and above, etc.)
  • Strong understanding of IP network systems, design, diagnostics and scalability
  • Exceptional abilities in network security (Linux, VPN, SSL, IPsec, Firewalls, IDS, etc.)
  • Exceptional technical and process problem solving skills
  • Candidates must have strong personal attributes in the areas of attitude, motivation, persistence, creativity and curiosity.

 

Preferred skills:

  • Bachelor's degree is strongly preferred.  However, this requirement will be waived for exceptional candidates.
  • Various programming / scripting languages in order to build tools to aid system management
  • Hardware maintenance skills, specifically Intel based Linux servers
  • Experience with Linux VPN and VOIP systems, preferably Asterisk.
  • Network and Systems Performance monitoring systems, e.g. Nagios, SMARTS, CiscoWorks, etc.
  • Solid background in the automation of technical and non-technical tasks and notifications in order to reduce human intervention, errors and effort.
