Responsibilities:

·         Work with customers to create and execute test plans for their specific network deployments.

·         Configure and troubleshoot the system on site as well as provide follow-on support for open issues.

·         The SE will work with the Technical Support team to transfer knowledge of the customer's configuration and network topology.

 

Education, Experience & Skills Requirements

·         Must be familiar with data networking and telephony environments with an emphasis on Next Generation IP services.

·         Knowledge and demonstrated experience in one or more of the following areas of specialization is required:

o        IP Telephony Architectures and VoIP protocols (SIP, H.323, MGCP, RTP/RTCP)

o        Session Border Controllers (SBCs)

o        QoS (MPLS / DiffServ)

o        LAN/WAN data networking architectures and routing protocols

·         Minimum of 5+ years of successful system implementation, deployment and support ideally in support of Tier One telecommunications service provider customers.

·         BSCS/EE or equivalent.

Background

Our client is a well funded pre-IPO technology company founded by a team of industry veterans with a focus on software infrastructure for the networked storage market.  The company's provides innovative and simplified network storage deployments that are affordable in every IT environment.

Overall Position Objective

This position is responsible for integrating industry leading software with our storage products for proven customer solution highlighting both compatibility and performance.  The ideal candidate will have extensive scripting experience and hands-on knowledge of enterprise virtualization, backup, and replication software applications.  The position requires script development for integration and automated testing.  You will also provide support to Sales Engineering for complex solution issues.

Qualifications

Engineering Skills and Experience

·         5+ years systems management automation with scripting languages (Perl, Bash, BASIC, etc)

·         Proficiency in systems and applications administration gained through experience.  Including:  network performance and response time, OS and application installation, performance monitoring/tuning, storage management, backup and recovery processes, virtual Server management and configuration.

·         Knowledge of specific software platforms a plus:

o        OS: Windows Server 2003/2008, Linux

o        Virtualization:  VMware ESX

o        Backup & Recovery/Replication:  Symantec (Veritas, Enterprise Vault), CommVault or equivalent Storage Resoruce Management (SRM) software

o        Enterprise Applications: Exchange 2007, SQL

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • The person in this position will be part of the PMO and closely work with Product Development, Engineering and Quality Assurance departments to guide the project through all phases of the Software Product Development Process.
  • The primary responsibility is creating, managing, monitoring, and coordinating the integrated project plans, including implementation schedules, cost estimates, and resource estimates, for the firm's Product, Services, and Application deliveries.
  • Resource tracking includes internal Development Resources, onsite Contract Resources, offsite Resources etc. Project Plans include tasks, or interfaces to tasks, performed by groups within Engineering.
  • The Technical Project Manager is responsible for organizing regular status meetings and creating presentations for Executive and Technical Management teams.
 DUTIES

  •  Develop integrated project plans, implementation schedules, and cost estimates for projects of various sizes across all Engineering disciplines including Hardware, Embedded Software, and Application Software. Plans include project resource requirements, schedules, capital expenditures, expense expenditures, and physical resource allocation.
  • Execute project plans including coordination of resource allocation, scheduling between groups, setting and tracking deadlines, and Purchase Order generation,
  • Perform day-to-day tracking of the assigned project(s) to ensure that policies and procedures are being followed, that goals and objectives are met, and that services and projects are being accomplished efficiently and effectively within agreed upon budgets.
  • Perform risk analysis, identify risk areas, and facilitate development of alternate plans or risk mitigation measures.
  • Prepare presentations regarding the status of current project initiatives for regular communication with Engineering and other departments.
  • Present the project status to the Engineering management

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIREMENTS

Viewed as Required
  • Bachelor's Degree in a technical field, such as Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent technical experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
  • Experience in leading a large scale product development project.
  • Two or more years experience in a structured Product Development environment, using techniques, principles, and practices of Project and Program Management.
  • Four or more years experience in a principles, and practices of Project Management.
  • Experience in developing software products utilizing iterative development process (UML, Agile, etc)
  • Advanced usage capabilities with standard Microsoft tools including Project, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience organizing resources and establishing project priorities.
  • Four or more years software development experience; especially in C, C++, Java, or Linux

Strongly Preferred Attributes
  • Project Management Professional (PMP, P.M.P.) certification strongly preferred not required.

The Sales Engineer will work with the sales team in a pre-sales role to develop and position solutions involving the firm's products. Presentations and conference call discussions are a critical part of this position. During the qualifying process, confirm that firm's products meet the prospect's requirements and assist sales in technical qualification. Throughout the proposal process, articulate and demonstrate our client's solutions, influence customer's technical requirements, and position products relative to competition. Working closely with assigned sales personnel, the Sales Engineer is responsible for all of the technical aspects of the sale during the entire sales cycle and is often involved with the client post purchase. Other duties will be assigned as necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain an extensive working knowledge of the firm's software and hardware solutions and professional services offerings.
  • Define product and functional requirements based on customer and partner requirements
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with customers and partners
  • Conduct in-depth product demonstrations and presentations
  • Support sales team in responding to RFP's
  • Work with Technical Support team to assure a smooth transition from pre-sales to the post-sales implementation environment
  • Participate in trade shows, exhibitions and seminars
  • Create white papers and application notes on the firm's product and service offerings.
  • Responsibilities will include translating customer requirements into functional implementation, through written technical specifications and frequent communications with R&D, Engineering and Product Management groups, as well as actual configuration and implementation at client site, helping defining specifications to product line to meet customer needs and conducting testing and user acceptance.
  • Responsible for Project Reviews, including: Technical analysis of customer requirements. Technical negotiations with customers.
  • Creating configurations / quotes for customers.
  • Responsible for evaluations performed at customer sites.
  • Assisting in training channel partners.
  • Defining functional and technical specifications to firm's product lines to meet customer needs
